Sgt. Charles Marvin Green Sr. (January 25, 1925 – July 6, 1987) was the father of Angry Grandpa, Aunt Charlene and the husband to Dorothy M. Green. He was a US Army sergeant in World War II.

Life and career[]

Early Life[]

Charles was born on January 25, 1925 in Hillsborough, NC. His father was Marvin Earl Green (1903 - 1956) and his mother was Annie Gertrude Asbill Green (1900 - 1992). He had one sister, Rachel L. Green. In 1935, Charles and his family were living in Fayetteville, Cumberland, North Carolina. He left school after completing seventh grade. In 1940, the Greens were living in Rockingham, Richmond, North Carolina.

Military career[]

Charles enlisted in the US Army on April 2, 1943. It is possible that he was stationed in England, and he may have served in the D-Day landings. He was honorably discharged three years later on January 2, 1946, being transferred at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Shortly afterwards, he married Dorothy Meyers. They had two children, Charlene at age 22 and Charles Jr. at age 25.

Accident[]

Late at night on November 22, 1959, Charles came home drunk. He decided that he was going to drive to his mother's house, and he wanted to take his son with him. His wife wouldn't let him take Charles Jr, so Charles Sr went alone. Dorothy took her children to her own mother's house, and thought about leaving her husband. In the early hours of the morning of November 23, 1959, Charles got into a violent car accident, which left him permanently paralyzed from the neck down for the rest of his life. Grandpa stated that his sister Charlene had to drop out of school to look after their father until their mother got home from work.

In his later years, he got involved with artistry and drawing as a hobby (as explained by Michael).

Death[]

Later at the age of 52, he was put into a veteran's home hospital and would stay there for the next 10 years until his death. From complications from his injuries (as stated by Kim) presumably he developed the disease Sepsis. Eventually, Charles died from his disease on July 6, 1987, aged 62, on the day of his granddaughter Kim's second birthday, and just over a month after the birth of his youngest grandchild, Michael.

Trivia[]

    • His relationship with Angry Grandpa is similar to Michael's, being a love-hate relationship.
    • Grandpa stated his father used to carry him to the movies to see horror pictures when he was a kid.
    • Angry Grandpa would visit him in the hospital and talk for awhile, after the car accident.
    • When he caught Grandpa smoking at the age of 6, he made him smoke a whole carton of cigarettes, which Grandpa 'loved' and it made him into the chain smoker he was.

    • When Grandpa was given a dollar by The Man in The Blue Suit, Charles went with Grandpa to return the dollar to the man, but they couldn't find him.
    • In 1958, Grandpa saw a prowler watching him while he was in the bathroom. Grandpa ran in and told Charles, who ran outside. He told Grandpa that it was just a cat, but Grandpa was sure that he saw a prowler.

    • Combining all the children both his son AGP, and daughter Aunt Charlene had, he had 10 grandchildren and lived to see all of them born.
    • Charles was only 62 years, 7 months, and 19 days old when he died, it was likely he would have lived much longer if he never got into a car accident almost 30 years prior. As it was complications from his injuries that killed him.
    • It was mentioned in one of Jennifer's Live Streams that Charles died from sepsis
